Traces of the past, as translated through the gestural acts of inscribing and extracting physical elements, are the focus of my interest. Seeking for ways to recreate conditions that are no longer visible, or decipher remains of specific events, I am interested in working with the materials already present in a given space: the process of their removal or de-construction, creates an imprint of their former context. Visibility-Invisibility, Superficiality-Depth, are dipoles present in the sites of re/de/construction.

Elena Chronopoulou, born in 1984 in Athens, is an architect, currently completing her Master in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies in Bauhaus University of Weimar.
